4WD Training 2 Days
As an overview the course includes the following;
- Perform pre operational vehicle checks;
- Change a wheel on a 4WD vehicle sited on uneven ground;
- Stall/key start recovery downhill forward and reverse;
- Implement minimal environmental impact practices
- Operate a 4WD vehicle competently in off-highway conditions, including;
- Up and down steep inclines;
- Correct range, gears and techniques
- Through muddy terrain and ditches;
- Across side slope involving irregular terrain;
- Irregular sandy terrain;
- Through water; and
- Along dry and wet dirt roads.
- Use a single snatch strap to recover a vehicle
- Operate a 4WD vehicle giving due regard to Occupational Health and Safety issues; and
- Knowledge and skills to required use a 4WD vehicle with due regard to environmental issues.
Day 1: 9.00 am Rocky Terrain
- Paperwork, Radios, Introductions
- Vehicle Characteristics & 4WD Theory (Sand)
- Vehicle Inspections Practical
- Preparing for sand driving (Training & Assessment)
- Key Starts/Stall Stops (Training & Assessment)
- Gear Selection Reading Sand Terrain
- Snatch Strap Recoveries, MaxTrax, and Self Recovery Techniques (Training & Assessment)
- Steep Ascents & Descents Sand (Training & Assessment)
- Post 4wd Inspection
- Debrief, Paperwork (mark written questionnaires and any other questions)
4:30pm Finish
Day 2: 9.00 am Sand
- Paperwork, Radios, Introductions
- 4WD Theory 45min
- Vehicle Inspections Practical
- Wheel Changing Practical (Training & Assessment)
- Key Starts/Stall Stops (Training & Assessment)
- Steep Ascents & Descents (Training & Assessment)
- Water Crossings (If water available)
- Post 4wd Inspection
- Debrief, Paperwork (mark written questionnaires and any other questions)
4.30pm finish
Finishing times may vary, depending on the skill level of the individuals within the group.
All training is Nationally Recognised and each participant will receive a Certificate of Competency on successful completion of the course. Course cost includes all training material, venue and track fees.
